For a first game, you've got the sidescroller basics down. Brackeys helped me a lot too lol.
My main complaint is that your audio is WAY too quiet- the sfx was nigh unaudible, and since that's one of your points of "lore," that's rather important.
Things you can learn next: pixel art skills. The little crowd of people is good, but I cannot understand the main character: I know logically it's supposed to be some sort of businessman, but he looks like a piece of toast eating a sausage, which I found adorable. I won't rate you lower for that though, don't worry!
I could actually beat the level without taking two of the coins. It would be interesting if you had an alternate ending based on if you took every coin or not. To do this, you can make alternate scenes and instantialize them, instead of having a text node and a few sprites that never change.
When it comes to your GDD, you treated it like a question-and-answer form, which isn't necessarily wrong, but doesn't give me any personal insight on how you developed your game. You also mention the Brackey's video, which has most of these starting graphics, but I would be more clear on exactly what you changed and how. For example, I THINK you took the sample track and edited it, but I am not sure.
I forgot an important note: your font is blurry because you resized it to a pixel size that the font does not support. With pixelized fonts like that, stick to multiples of 8.
Thanks for all of the game and GDD tips and feedback...I learned a lot making this and agree that there is a ways to go make this more interesting for the player.
I didn't realize at all that the sfx were too quite for players!. Good to know!
The blurry pixel issue makes sense now. Thank you for explaining that.
